Not a Creature Was Stirring...

Festival of Foods preparation?  CHECK!  WHOOT!  I'm so glad that I finished that item on my list because it led to some super exciting ideas for my munchkins for next week.  Last year a parent shared the chocolate mice idea with me and so I made them for my colleagues at the 2010 Festival of Foods as well as for each of my kiddos for their Christmas Party gift bags.

I totally wanted to make them this year too, but I have a sweet angel who has an airborne (fatal) nut allergy so I wasn't able to use the almonds slices for ears. So I posted this year's batch on Facebook and asked for ideas.  M&Ms (nut allergy no-no) and raisins were the two ideas but I didn't have any raisins aside from in my husband's Raisin Bran.  When I went to the pantry to get the box I saw them.  TOOTSIE ROLLS!  SO, I grabbed the bag and began cutting them into smaller pieces which then gave them an almond-like shape!  YAY!  So now I can make them for my students for next week as well!
