Monologue Monday

Today's monologue is provided by Shel Silverstein.  It's a great way to start the week, in my humble opinion.
"There is a voice inside of you, that whispers all day long,I feel that this is right for me, I know that this is wrong.  No teacher, preacher, parent, friend or wise man can decide whats right for you Just listen to the voice that speaks inside."

Have a great day, folks, Im off to listen to my voice. J

Parts of Speech Posters--Part One

If you watched the video below, then you probably know how K.I.S.S. it is (appropriately nicknamed by Renee', my former AP, current friend).  So I've decided to create posters for each of her 'tidbits' of knowledge.  Hopefully it will help my munchkins to remember these parts of speech as their years progress so that if their college professor asks them which one is the noun, they'll know, without a doubt.
A Noun is

If you have any suggestions or different color requests, please respond with a comment.  I'd LOVE to customize the colors for you, if you'd like.

GO BLUE!

Team Bins and an Updated Tour

This year I wasn't going to do team supply bins because I've had a lot of problems getting the children to keep them clean and/or organized and my supplies kept sprouting legs and walking out of the room.
That being said, I don't know for sure that it won't happen this year, but I'm slightly more confident that I have more procedures in place so that hopefully it isn't an issue.  I've also changed the items up slightly.  I used to keep pencils there, for example, but I now have a classroom pencil trade-out area so that this won't be necessary.
These are my team bins as I'll be introducing them on Monday:

Inside you can see the library pockets that hold the paint chip help guides (one for each student at the group), colored pencils, a glue stick, and markers in a plastic cup.  I will also be placing a "catalog/checklist" of items that belong in there so that the students in charge can check before we leave").  You may not be able to see it, but there are also travel sized tissues in each bin.  I expect to go through those fairly quickly, but will be posting on my website that I'd like more of those as well as the hand sanitizers that are attached to the sides.

I've tied the hand sanitizer to the sides with a ribbon that goes through the holes.  I am hoping this helps to minimize students spreading germs as the flu season is under way.

This is the supply bin at the "Teacher Station" and you'll see it has the same items.
There have also been some other modifications around my classroom in the past week or so:

Well, football  is on, so that's all for now.  Have a great Saturday night! :D

Crafty Weekend

If there is anyone out there reading these silly posts of mine, I want to apologize to you for the hiatus this past week.  It's been an extremely crazy week and I finally hit a wall on Friday that made me NEED to create something crafty.  Does anyone else get that way?  If I'm overwhelmed with the mundane day-to-day tasks of life, I decompress by making something crafty.  Kinda "not bright" when you think about it, because inevitably it puts me further behind.

Anywhooooo, here are some of the distractions that I finished up or worked from beginning to end this weekend:

I've hot glued brads to buttons because my hope is that they will work to attach a Behavior Chart to our Tuesday Folders, making it easier for the two or three teachers of each of my homeroom students to write their info in.  The buttons are to keep the brads from going straight through the holes.  I'll let you know if it works.  :)

I definitely found this idea on Pinterest or another blog.  At the moment I can't find it anywhere...if you know the source, please message me so that I can credit the creator of the idea.

Initially I had great plans for these clothespins after adding the decorative paper...but it took me so long to actually find clothespins that I don't remember what I need them for.  :(  *sigh*

Just to leave this off on a positive note, this boy of mine can ALWAYS make me smile.  I ♥ my Bailey!

Sweet dreams and I hope you all have a fabulous Monday,
Krystal
